Kritik

Ah.. kok nglantur, back to our jungle..

Difference is the Strength

From the humanistic class yesterday I got a lot of knowledge about different culture customs between me and my friends in Indonesia. I often hear the phrase ‘if you want respectable, respect the other first’. Well, in respect to others we should look at public opinion about the person. In Indonesian culture there are those who argue if the Batak people are like sound loudly if they talking with the other. Or Java people were meek and so on. It was the custom and culture of Indonesia that we should respect and keep together. Thus splits or disputes among Indonesia people because of the differences can be avoided.
Like SSE students who come from various regions of Indonesia. And I come from Bali, which is the minorities felt the difference between me with my friends in terms of religious, cultural habits. Every time my friends know I is a Balinese immediately asked where my home in Bali and my friends want I show Balinese dance and other unique of Bali. But I also did interaction with my friends who from other regions in Indonesia. I become to know and understand their cultures. Although sometimes different opinions but in the end I was able to learn mutual respect ad tolerance for diversity that exists. For that, as we know Indonesian people who came from different cultures, certainly has a uniqueness that is very beautiful and very diverse habits. But, all that’s what makes our nation to remain united. Pride in the difference would be extraordinary power to maintain the integrity of the nation.
Indonesia is already familiar with diversity and difference if any person or group who want to divide the Indonesian nation would not be difficult to ignore that. The Indonesian people who familiar with problems because of the different would be more experience in order to avoid a schism. But sometimes the customs and the culture which is owned by the Indonesian people among the Indonesian people themselves. Like the stereotype if the husband should be work and the wife has a good household that has started to be abandoned. Some family was happy where as the wife was working and husband sometimes help the wife work in kitchen. It was not like that anymore. Maybe this is a show if that culture will continue to involve with the development of human’s own. However, some teasing disturbs the peace of the family. But for me a happy family that would be realized if every pair of mutual trust support and remind each other. So that, as one family should be understand about what can we do for ignore that teasing. It was not this time anymore wife was weak and full responsibility for the household. For that there is no harm if the wife also works, but continued to perform duties as a good wife to husband.
Discrimination arises from an allegation that has ever happened in the community that grew into stereotype and then becomes discrimination. For example when someone who finds Balinese people like eat chili so much.  After the while some groups will assume that the Balinese people were rather spicy, though not everyone from Bali likes to eat spicy. So every time I eat in restaurant always provided when ordering spicy food. This is happened to myself every time I order food that is not spicy, they or my friends has doubts I am from Bali. And that is makes my friends aware if that assume just stereotype for Balinese people.
